Our next winter storm will push into the Two Virginias Sunday bringing rain, sleet and snow to much of the area.
Precipitation will initially begin as rain Sunday morning as an area of low pressure pushes into the region from the south. Cold air from the north will battle the warm air pushing in from the south and will eventually win out, changing the precipitation over to a wintry mix and then snow by late Sunday afternoon.
Snow showers will continue through Sunday night before wrapping up early Monday morning. Roads will likely be slick during the late evening hours Sunday and during the morning commute on Monday.
Here’s a look at how much snow we can expect around the Two Virginias:
Wyoming & McDowell Counties: 1″ – 2″
Fayette, Mercer, Nicholas, Raleigh & Tazewell Counties: 2″ – 4″ with some higher amounts of 3″ – 6″ possible.
Greenbrier, Monroe, Pocahontas, Summers Counties: 4″ – 8″ with some isolated higher amounts on the highest peaks.
We will continue to provide updates on our website, Facebook and Twitter pages as well as on WVNS 59 and FOX 59 throughout the duration of this storm.
