Plane Crashes At Virginia Airport, USA

Plane Crash Alert

Virginia State Police say a pilot escaped injury when his small plane crashed at an airport in Leesburg.

Troopers say 52-year-old Robert L. Bailey Jr. of Fairfax Station was approaching Leesburg Executive Airport about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday for landing.

Police say a strong gust of wind forced the single-engine Cessna to crash off the runway and overturn.

Bailey was the only person on the plane, which had taken off from Manassas.

Troopers notified the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration of the incident.
