Plane Crash Alert

Officials say two people have been killed in a plane crash near Riverside in eastern Kanawha County.

The Charleston Gazette reports that the small plane was on its way from Akron, Ohio, to Spartanburg, S.C., when it crashed.

The pilot of the Piper PA-32 had reportedly asked for help navigating around bad weather.

The newspaper said that West Virginia State Police responding to the crash needed about two hours to find the site with a helicopter.

A man who answered the telephone at the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the plane’s two occupants were dead but did not immediately have any additional information.
