Hundreds of poultry suddenly die due to avian flu in Central Java, Indonesia

Hundreds of chickens owned by residents Sragen, Central Java, died suddenly. Based on the results of the rapid test, the local Animal Husbandry Department officials stated chickens positive bird flu virus.

Officers immediately went to a chicken farm owned Sutrisman, villagers Patihan, Sidoharjo, Sragen, after getting reports death of hundreds of birds in just a few days.

According to the owner of poultry, poultry death occurred only a few days without any symptoms. The farmer admitted that he had tried to treat the chickens with the use of vitamins, but these efforts do not produce results. Now the whole of his chickens died.

Officers immediately did a quick test to determine the cause of death of birds. Rapid test results show that hundreds of chickens died from avian influenza virus attacked or commonly called bird flu.

The above findings officer directly burn carcasses of dead chickens and farm owners urged not to raise animals first before cage-cage sterilized.

According to officials, the possibility of bird flu virus is transmitted by the new birds brought in from outside the area. This virus is contagious if there is direct contact between birds.

To break the chain of virus, virus infected chicken carcasses should be burned and buried. While the farm must be emptied and sprayed disinfectant.

Although the results of the rapid test showed positive poultry infected with bird flu, officials still will send virus samples to the province to do more research.
