Gruelling heatwave continues in parts of Gujarat, India |

The gruelling heatwave prevailing over several parts of Gujarat is there to stay. According to the meteorological department, heatwave conditions will persist for the next few days.

Over the next 36 hours, heatwave will continue to scorch Daman, Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli.

On Saturday, Ahmedabad was the hottest at 43.3 degrees celsius and Gandhinagar came a close second at 43 degrees. Rest of the state also witnessed temperatures of more than 40 degrees, with Idar, Amreli and Vadodara getting plenty of sunshine.

Amdavadis had a harrowing time going about life in such an extreme weather. Ujjwal Pandit, a lecturer in an engineering college, said, “When I left home in the morning, it was still bearable, but while getting back home, I sweated it out. Going about town has become a task.”

Similarly, Ritu Shah, a college student who has been giving exams over the last week, said, “By the time I reach the exam centre, I am already tired and devoid of energy. The heat is sapping my strength and studying in this heat is feeling even more tedious.”
