Plane Emergency Landing

A passenger plane with 149 people on board made an emergency landing at Cork airport at 11.45pm last night.

The pilot of the Boeing 737-300 series charter flight from Belfast to Barcelona reported a suspected fuel leak off the south coast and diverted to Cork.

The airport’s emergency response plan was activated when the alert was raised, but stood down shortly after the plane landed safely.

A spokesman at Cork Airport confirmed that the passengers and crew are being accommodated in Cork overnight before continuing on their journey to Barcelona.

The Boeing aircraft is operated by Air Contractors Limited.
