Severe weather strikes South Devon, UK

POLICE and fire emergency services were called to a number of incidents as torrential rain caused flooding and dangerous driving conditions across South Devon today.

Fire crews were called to French Street, Teignmouth on Saturday, June 28 to deal with reports of flooding. However most of the serious flooding was confined to Somerset, a spokesman at fire HQ in Exeter said.

Devon and Cornwall police force incident manager Graham Thomas said: “We have had a number of accidents possibly related to the weather and reports of bad driving conditions.

“The main thing we are asking for is for people to be aware of the road conditions. The rain is torrential in places. It can be short-lived but because of the volume of water on the roads people need to drive with care, and appropriate to the conditions.
