Tropical cyclone headed for Eastern Canada

Tropical Storm Alert

Environment Canada has issued information pertaining to tropical cyclones in preparation for hurricane Arthur, which is set to impact Atlantic Canada over the weekend.

For Newfoundland, Environment Canada predicts high winds and heavy rain, however, the weather will not be as severe as the Maritime provinces.

On Sunday, gusty winds are expected, but not strong enough to warrant warning criteria.

The rainfall amounts will be less for Newfoundland and the southern Maritimes compared to the rest of Atlantic Canada, but Environment Canada predicts heavy downpours in some regions.

Environment Canada also advises mariners to remain on alert in the Maritimes and to follow forecast updates to ensure their safety.
