Major flooding is causing Saskatchewan lakes to set new records not seen before, Canada

“This will be a new record for Round Lake and levels we have not seen before,” said Boyle
A week after heavy rain hit the province and caused massive flooding, it looks like many lakes are still on the rise.

Patrick Boyle with the Water Security Agency says they predict Last Mountain Lake will see another increase  between July 8th and 10th of .07 meters.

On Sunday and Monday Round Lake is set to peak up another .08 meters.

“This will be a new record for Round Lake and levels we have not seen before,” said Boyle.

Crooked Lake is now on the decline but earlier this weekend water levels reached the same amount as the highest peak set in 1955.

A Precautionary drinking water advisory is now in place in Tantallon, east of Round Lake due to flooding. Boyle says there are now 9 communities under an advisory.

For flood victims who have questions about what to do next, they can now find the answers at Regional Recovery Centers.

The province opened it’s first center in Melville on Friday and has already helped over 200 people.

At the centers you can can learn about provincial programs and services,  like SaskPower or the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program (PDAP).

Karen Lautsch with province says they helped people fill out PDAP applications at the recovery center in Melville, over the last two days.

“We have received about 100 applications that will be moving through the process”

Another recovery center will open in Carnduff from July 8th to 11th. The province will soon announce the dates of centers that will help those in the Moosomin, Grenfell, Esterhazy, and Yorkton areas.
