Situation that presumes that these birds died from starvation due to physical weakness caused by food shortages.

The Instituto del Mar del Peru (Imarpe) issued a report stating that the guano birds would be migrating north and center of the country to the coasts of the south, where not finding their favorite food (anchovy) have died from starvation.

Imarpe staff also conducted an analysis to the crop of these birds and found no trace of having ingested food, so it would be dying for lack of food.
