
Four persons, including two children, died and eight others were injured in a landslide in Jiri of Dolakha in the wee hours of Saturday.
According to police, Sujal Jirel (5), Sushma Jirel and Pema Doma Tamang (37) and her 17-year-old daughter Phurlamu Tamang were killed when the landslide triggered by torrential rainfall buried their houses.
Police said that the incident occurred at around 1am today.
The injured have been receiving treatment at a local hospital in Jiri.
Personnel from Nepal Army, Nepal Police, and Armed Police Force have been dispatched in the incident area to carry out rescue operation.
Police said that the Jiri-Those road section has been obstructed following the landslide since this morning.
Earlier, 156 people were killed when a massive landslide swept away entire Jure village in Sindhupalchok last Saturday.
Similarly, six persons were killed and several other have been missing in a landslide at Fachayang, Syabun-3 of Sankhuwasabha on Monday.
Landslides and floods are common in most of the hilly districts of Nepal during the monsoon season.
