Train crash kills 3 and 4 are critical in Natore, Bangladesh

The crash took place as the train did not find any signal to stop, says station master

Three women including a new bridegroom have been killed and 4 others critically injured in a train-human hauler crash at Yeasinpur rail crossing of sadar upazila in the district on Saturday noon.

The deceased were identified as new bridegroom Sazeda Khatun, 20, wife of Alif Hossein, Sundari Begum, 60, wife of Nasu Mia and Jolekha Begum,55, wife of Hossein Ali of Paikordol village of the upazila.

Aslam Uddin, officer-in-charge of Sadar police station confirmed the deaths to the Dhaka Tribune.

Aslam said a Paikordol bound human hauler crashed with Rajshahi bound Barendra train at the southern gate of Yeasinpur rail station while the human hauler was crossing the lines around 12.30pm, killing the three women on the spot and injuring at least four others.

The injured were admitted to Natore sadar hospital.

Sharif Uddin, the eyewitness, said the crash occurred because there was no gate man at the station area.

Ashok Kumar Chakrabarti, station master of Natore rail station confirmed about the crash.

Yeasinpur rail station remained closed due to manpower shortage, he said.

“The crash took place as the train did not find any signal to stop,” Ashok Kumar said.
