The tornado that touched down northwest of Boca Raton.

An afternoon of inclement weather across South Florida ended with a tornado touching down in southern Palm Beach County.

The tornado sighting took place a few miles northwest of Boca, Saturday around 4:30 p.m., and was a part of an afternoon filled with heavy rain and powerful winds that stretched from Broward to Palm Beach County.

Residents took out their cell phones and cameras to photograph and record the funnel cloud, which was spotted just west of the Turnpike, near the Boca Landings community. While it looked like the tornado touched down close to homes, it was actually off in the distance.

No injuries were reported.

By 4:45 p.m., the tornado had cleared out and weather officials were able to cancel a tornado warning that was issued earlier in the day.
