A military plane crashed Wednesday morning in Virginia, sending up a pillar of smoke from the suspected crash site near Deerfield.
The jet, which may be an F-15, may have been sighted nearby, and emergency crews were out looking for the single pilot that was aboard, the News Leader reported.
A police alert indicated that an F-15 is currently missing, and a tweet from nearby appeared to show evidence of a crash site.
Areas along Old Parkersburg Turnpike have reportedly been closed to traffic, allowing only emergency vehicles to pass.
A search is ongoing for the missing pilot.
