For the fourth time this year Cajititlán lagoon, in the town of Tlajomulco, had a high fish kills due to low oxygen in the water and being receiver downloads municipal drainage, especially dozens of subdivisions surrounding the reservoir.

Since Tuesday and all day Wednesday and fishermen of this council staff withdrew mojarras lama, as known to the small species, activity continued in the afternoon with almost 4 tons collected.

Dead fish floated especially near the boardwalk Cajititlán a highly tourist area, which facilitated collection.

According to the City of Tlajomulco death of this kind of cichlid is cyclical and occurs during the rainy season once a year, but locals said that the discharge of foul drainage and drain into the lagoon pollute the body water and oxygen limited.

Cajititlán lagoon is very close to Lake Chapala and its main activities are fishing and tourism, which have been severely affected by what this recurring situation.

On January 6, June 26 and August 14 similar contingencies that killed thousands of fish in the lagoon were presented.

The council reported that it happened without risk to other species of fish that are sold by other fishermen, especially mojarra tilapia and common.

The official explanation is that due to the rains, water trawls carry waste lagoon farms, organic matter and various chemicals used on crops, which contaminates.

All this stuff that reaches the lagoon decreases oxygen, which mainly affects the mojarra lama.

The municipality and the state government last month announced the rehabilitation of treatment plants that discharge into the lagoon, none of the three works fully, increasing the arrival favoring waste site contamination.
