
Landslide burying several homes in central China’s Hubei Province killed at least 7 people on Saturday, authority said. According to local government report, the rain-triggered landslide tore through 4 houses in Xuan’en County of Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture at about 6:10 a.m. Saturday. 11 people were reported to be living in one of the houses and rest 3 homes were abandoned. Rescue team immediately rushed to the scene pulled out 8 people alive and whisked them off to nearby hospital, but 4 among them succumbed to their critical wounds. According to the latest update, bodies of the 3 missing victims have been recovered on early Sunday. According to local officials, an emergency evacuation order had been issued on Friday night after a spell of heavy rain. The area will be under geological monitoring as rainfall is expected to continue through the next couples of days.
