A tropical wave a couple hundred miles east-northeast of the northern Leeward Islands is gaining strength, and the National Hurricane Center now pegs the odds of a tropical cyclone emerging within the next 48 hours at 30 percent.
This concentrated area of showers and thunderstorms continues tracking to the northwest at 10 to 15 mph.
Meanwhile, the remnants of former Tropical Storm Hanna are forecast to move inland over Belize and northern Guatemala by Wednesday morning.
