Regular markets that sell fresh vegetables, fruits and livestock in Dammam, Al-Hassa and Jubail came to a virtual standstill.
Vehicles parked outside were seen completely covered with dust. Motorists had a hard time as a heavy dust storm reduced visibility significantly. People preferred to stay indoors.
Traffic authorities advised motorists to be extremely cautious while driving in the dusty weather as fine dust particles on the road could increase the chances of skidding.
Asthma and allergy patients were hospitalized in various parts of Eastern Province due to dust allergies.
The emergency departments of all hospitals and clinics in the region are on high alert to receive patients suffering from asthma and severe allergies. Visibility was reduced to as little as 200 meters on the highways.
