Due to heavy rain last night, a massive landslide occurred in Keratiela region as a result of this the main road of Kandy-Nuwara Eliya has been blocked.
In order to bring the flow of traffic, the stones and mud are being removed with the help of heavy vehicle. The authorities are likely to face many hardships to remove the mud and bring the traffic to normal as well as to prevent this from happening again. The vehicle travelling from Kandy to Nuwara are en-routed back on Thavalanthanna route to Thalawakkella route through Navanakara and from there it reaches Nuwara Eliya via Irampodai route.
In this landslide, damage has been incurred to one of the van but passenger travelling survived.
