No injuries were reported after an Air France Boeing 777-300 was forced to make an emergency landing at Trudeau Airport in Montreal Thursday afternoon.
Air France flight AF54 which was carrying 152 passengers and 17 crew members, was en route from Paris, France to Washington D.C. Thursday afternoon when it diverted to Montreal.
“We took every measure to ensure that the aircraft could land safely and it did so a few minutes ago,” Airports de Montreal spokesperson Francois Asselin told CTV Montreal at about 4 p.m.
“Nobody is injured as far as we know.”
The diversion was deemed necessary due to smoke seen in the business section. It was emanating either from a seat or a TV monitor according to differing unconfirmed reports. Passengers did not immediately evacuate the plane.
Air France described the issue on Twitter as a, “minor technical problem and diversion to YUL for checks where it just landed safely.”
At about 6:30 p.m. Air France announced that the plane was back in order and lining up for takeover to resume its flight to Washington D.C.
