Yellow Alert

A yellow rainfall warning has been raised over some parts of the Visayas due to the tail-end of a cold front, state weather bureau PAGASA said on Saturday.

In an advisory issued at 8 a.m., PAGASA said flooding may occur in low-lying areas in the southern portion of Eastern Samar and Samar, Leyte, and Southern Leyte.

It said landslides may also occur in mountainous areas.

In Eastern Samar, two municipalities have already reported incidents of landslides due to the non-stop rains.

“Meron pong landslide dun po sa Barangay Santa Cruz, Quinapondan at Barangay Biga ng Giporlos,” Engr. Levi Nicart, officer of the Eastern Samar Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC), told radio dzMM.

No casualties have been reported, Nicart said.
