A volcano some hundreds of kilometers west of Mexico City has been very active this new year, erupting twice in one week.
On Thursday the Colima volcano shot out a large column of ash two thousand five hundred meters high into the air. Local media reported that ash didn’t reach nearby communities and so posed no risk to the population. Colima is one of the most active volcanoes in Mexico, and is known as the ‘Fire Volcano’.
Its first eruption this year was on January 3rd, and it had spewed ash up to three thousand meters high that time. It has been increasingly active since last November.
