Lightning strikes primary school injuring 16 students in Bajaria village, India

Sixteen students were injured when lightning struck a primary government school at Bajaria village, 35 km from Nainital, on Friday afternoon. 
 
It is learnt that around 1.30 pm, when the school session was still in session, lightning struck the school building. A sudden explosion was heard when the lightning struck. The electric wires above the building were also damaged. 
 
Speaking to TOI, Bansidhar Kandpal,midday meal in charge in Nainital, said, “We have been helping the students since the afternoon. Nearly 16 students from Class IV and Class V were in the classrooms when the bold of lighting bolt struck the school.”
