Turkish Airlines aircraft coming in for landing on fire
Smoke was seen billowing from a passenger plane as it skidded off the runway during an emergency landing in Istanbul.

The Turkish Airline jet left a trail of smoke and sparks as it touched down in Istanbul.

Turkish media reports said the plane’s engine caught fire during its flight from Milan.

However, spokesman Ali Genc said it was not clear if the fire started before the landing or after.

The plane was forced to make an emergency landing after a first attempt to touch down failed, he said.

All the plane’s 97 passengers were safely evacuated.

None suffered any health issues, Mr Genc said.
