Hailstorm accompanied by fast winds in different parts of Lolab, here, on Sunday caused massive damage to fruit bearing trees and vegetable crop.
The farmers from several areas in Lolab told Greater Kashmir that the hailstorm began this afternoon and continued for an hour. “It badly hit orchards in Sogam, Lalpora, Potushai, Khodi, Gagal, Diver, Maidanpora, cheepora, Kuligam, Khurhama, Warnow and Doban areas of Lolab causing damage to the mustard crop, fruit buds of apple trees, walnut, pear and cherry, and vegetables.”
“Such was the intensity of the hailstorm and fast winds accompanying it that fruit buds and leaves of trees were knocked down” the farmers said.
