Many city residents are without water this afternoon due to a power failure at the Oswego water treatment plant.
Oswego Fire Lt. Paul Conzone asked residents to conserve water until further notice.
The water outages are affecting both residential supply and fire hydrants. Emergency crews are preparing to get water from sources outside the city, Conzone said.
Water tanker trucks from the Granby and Palermo fire departments are being called to the city, according to Oswego County 911 dispatch.
National Grid is working to correct the problem and Conzone said he believes the problem will be resolved shortly.
