Power Outages Alert

Strong wind in northeast China’s Liaoning Province caused a power outage on the region’s rail networks lasting nearly three hours on Sunday afternoon, forcing dozens of high-speed trains to suspend operations.

High-voltage transmission lines fell on the rail network’s overhead lines near Shenyang, the provincial capital, due to strong winds around 3 p.m., causing a power outage that halted high-speed trains between Shenyang and the coastal city of Dalian.

Power was restored around 6 p.m. after workers repaired the network, and trains have resumed service.
