
Based on satellite observations, the volcano has produced a number of ash plumes rising to approx. 8,000 ft (2.4 km) altitude, which drifted 40 km to the west. (VAAC Darwin)
A strong heat source has been visible at the crater since 21 May as well. This suggests a new eruptive phase is in course, likely in form of a lava dome extrusion and/or mild strombolian activity.
