The injured were shifted to Apollo DRDO hospital. The explosion occurred while four workers were trying to burn waste explosive material, Santoshnagar ACP Srinivas told The Hindu.
Normally, they safely shift the waste explosive material and dump them in a pit before burning it with fuse wires from a distance. “After lighting the fuse wire, it usually gets burnt after two to three minutes. This time, somehow, explosion occurred while putting the explosive material inside the pit,” the ACP said.
The reason behind the blast were being investigated into, he added.
