Massive fish kill in the waters of Cienaga Grande, Colombia

Fishermen Cienaga Grande Magdalena reported that in recent times there has been a fish kill in the lagoon mirror, in the municipality of Pueblo Viejo, north of Magdalena and so far the causes of this phenomenon are unknown. 
 
The largest concentration of dead fish, according to the concept Tasajera fishermen, Pueblo Viejo, Palmira and Isla del Rosario is recorded in the place known as Bocas de Palenque, in understanding of the municipality, which derive sustenance two thousand families fishing. 
 
The locals hope that in the coming hours to reach the place a committee of the Regional Autonomous Corporation of Magdalena, Corpamag, for taking samples for laboratory analysis in order to determine whether the phenomenon is due to the overheating of the water, low oxygenation or if the clogging of the pipes that irrigate. 
 
Fishermen are alerting the environmental authorities of the region and country to be apersonen of this situation, similar to that recorded more than ten years ago, where the intervention of the Inter-American Development Bank, IDB, for the recovery of the lagoon complex was necessary.
