Fisherman Chris McCaughan at the coastal path where there has been a landslide
A landslide has sent 40 tons of rubble cascading onto a popular north coast tourist path – blocking access for holidaymakers and locals alike
The rockfall on the White Rocks coastal path at Ballycastle happened at the weekend, after months of rain had loosened boulders, stones and soil.

Local fisherman and former Moyle councillor Chris McCaughan said: “It’s very dangerous. The path is completely blocked with rubble and black stone.”
Built in the mid-18th century to serve local limestone quarrying, the path leads to the Giant’s Cave and on towards Kinbane Head.
“It’s well used by everyone,” said Mr McCaughan.
“It’s a scenic path for tourists, as well as a lovers’ lane for locals out for a bit of a wee court of an evening.
“But there’ll none of that now till the DoE gets the path cleared.”
