Hundreds of wild birds have died as a result of outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza in China.
The outbreaks were of the H5N1 subtype.
The first outbreak occurred on Galongcuo Bird Island in Tibet. There were 415 wild birds dead, including brown-headed gulls and bar-headed geese.
The second outbreak occurred in Shuangheer wetland nature park in Inner Mongolia, where 300 black-necked grebes died.
