
A pilot was dragged alive from the wreckage of a light plane that crashed near Sandown Airport on the Isle of Wight today
The man was in a French-registered plane was taking off when the accident happened.
An eyewitness said the plane burst into flames after the man, who was flying solo, was pulled from the wreckage.
He was taken to hospital and is understood to have suffered facial injuries and two broken ankles.
Hampshire Police said they were called out at 10.26am today.
An end of the war celebration event is being held at the airport today and tomorrow.
