The service fire of Roeselare and civil protection were concerned Saturday throughout the day of the death of thousands of fish in the canal from Roeselare. Heavy rainfall in recent days could explain the phenomenon.
It rained abundantly especially Thursday evening in Roeselare, and large quantities of water spilled channel to channel. This sudden arrival would have created a lack of oxygen for the fish.
Civil protection will continue to remove dead fish Sunday.
