Over 250 dead dolphins, all the babies in just one month.
This is the data up to the time of the counting of the group citizens ‘ initiative to preserve the coral “and experts from the NGO” green Balkans “, taken to be collected, mapped and investigate the increasing incidence of anxiety thrown dead dolphins on the banks of the whole Bulgarian Black Sea coast by the end of July.
250 is the number of requests made and processed by them civil signals from 25 July to 25 August 2015, but now there’s another 42 new signals that have not yet been added to the overall statistics. They gather in the information network created by the urgency of the volunteers, after it became clear that the Government authorities are having difficulty to absorb hundreds of signals, make autopsies should be promptly and to establish the cause of the mass extinction of the dolphins, which are protected species, and the killings were a crime under the criminal code.
Atanas Rusev from “should we keep the coral” is and main activist, approached the public institutions for the scale of the problem. He is a former concessionaire at the beach “coral”, speleologist, ekoaktivist, and now initiates voluntary actions and grant research. Today (August 27) he published a detailed materialin which he expressed the results of census of these incidents and take account of the stage is the investigation of the two organizations.
For his actions, civil associations have not received funding. At the same time financing of 1 954 000 EUR is allocated under the operational program “environment” again for the Census and study of cetaceans along the Bulgarian Black Sea coast in a project that introduced the pilot results.
