Masses of fish and other sea life dying due to ‘red tide’ along Padre Island, USA

Fish Kill Alert

Some of the fishermen said they saw no signs of red tide in the waters.
 
Texas Parks and Wildlife confirmed the test results returned negative. However, the toxic algae is confirmed in Corpus Christi.
 
A local fishing guide said he found fish tails stretching for 60 miles, along the Padre Island National Seashore. He found dead fish about six miles north of the Port Mansfield Jetties.
 
Eric Ozolins said he found piles of dead shrimp, eels red snapper, amberjack and many more ocean life species.
 
Texas Sea Grant, out of Corpus Christi, reported mild to moderate respiratory irritation near the Port Mansfield Jetties. No fish kills were reported there.
 
Texas Parks and Wildlife biologists said their water samples along South Padre Island came back negative.
 
The heavy hit areas remain north of the Island. The last time red tide occurred at South Padre Island was 2011.
