Hundreds of cattle dead due to drought in Cochabamba, Bolivia

160 heads of cattle dead and over a thousand hectares of corn and beans is lost due to severe drought in the municipalities of Omereque and Pasorapa in the southern cone of Cochabamba, said Colonel Ramiro Mercado, head of the Civil Defense Department.
 
“In Pasorapa three substations and 16 communities are affected, and two substations Omereque eight communities. The villagers are demanding agricultural inputs such as seeds, and veterinarians. Also they ask for a water truck. The Governor attended some of these orders, “the authority said.
 
Mercado said the situation could worsen with the arrival of El Niño. He said the region’s rivers were completely dry as seen above. He warned that this situation will bring heavy losses to farming families in both municipalities.
