Emergency services are preparing residents of St Michael’s for another evacuation after a breach of the River Wyre.
The Environment Agency has issued a new severe flood warning for the area following a small leak in temporary flood defence repairs.
The new alert – the highest level suggesting danger to life – follows sustained heavy rainfall throughout the day.
The statement reads: “Earlier this week we repaired breaches in the embankment on the River Brock upstream of St Michael’s.
“Due to the temporary nature of the repairs and increased river levels we are concerned about the stability of the embankment.
“Police and the fire brigade may need to evacuate residents for their safety.”
Police are advising affected residents meet at The Grapes pub while the situation is assessed.
