Around 445 turtles marine dead were found in beaches in Guerrero in recent weeks, so the Federal Attorney for the environment (Profepa) protection and the National Commission of natural protected Areas (Conanp), investigated the causes of mortality.

The largest number of dead specimens was found in an area of 20 km, from the area known as Playa Boca Chica, El Carrizal until Nuxco bar, where 232 bodies of sea turtles in advanced state of decomposition were found. In Tlacoyunque Beach, with Natural Protected Area category, 70 bodies of turtles were found in advanced state of decomposition and bruising in neck.
Another journey made on 2 February, in response to reports of camps Beach tape Carrizal turtle long, personal inspection and surveillance of the hotel found in a stretch of 5 km of beach, other 20 specimens of sea turtles killed in a State of decomposition.
February 3, 2016, the Ministry of environment and resources natural of the Government of the State of Guerrero and the Directorate of Civil protection of that entity, reported the discovery of 123 turtles dead on the stretch of beach Nuxco Beach Michigan.
