Hundreds of dead sea birds found washed up in Trujillo, Peru

Again lots of dead seabirds were found in the sector Tequila from the beach Las Delicias, in the District of Moche.

The Professor of the Universidad Nacional de Trujillo (UNT), Carlos Bocanegra Garcia, and a group of students of the professional career of Fisheries Biology, detected the massive presence of dead seabirds when performing research work in this seaside resort.

As reported, 168 are animals found in an extension of 500 linear metres and that are exposed to the holidaymakers, endangering the health of these. They are an infectious focus, so it should be incinerated and buried as soon as possible.

The birds died due to lack of food (anchovy, species of cold water). Sea recorded a temperature of 24 degrees, 4 degrees above normal because of the El Niño phenomenon, the anchovy migrates to other areas. “Birds, not finding food, die”, said Bocanegra Garcia.

All indications are that as the sea temperature increases, the mortality of the birds, will increase which would be a serious danger.
