18,000 birds killed due to new outbreak of avian flu in Plateau province, Nigeria

Three new outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza have been reported in Plateau province in Nigeria.
 
Over 18,000 birds were culled, and 278 birds died from the disease, in the H5N1 strain outbreaks.
 
The birds affected included pullets and layers on two farms and one backyard operation.
