Dozens of dead birds found along a road in Fairfax County, Virginia, USA

Animal control officers in Fairfax County are investigating two dozen birds mysteriously found dead in Chantilly Friday morning.

The birds were located on the roadway by officers responding to the area of Avion Parkway and Lee Jackson Memorial Highway at around 10 a.m.

The birds, all believed to be European starlings, were sent for a necropsy and laboratory testing. Police say their Animal Services Division is working with the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries to determine the cause of death for the birds.
