Sea turtles have appeared dead in waters of Banderas Bay and beaches of Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco.
The bodies of nearly 80 reptiles were located until Monday afternoon.
Juan José Navarro, ecology and environment, said that “turtles 79 that left us, are of the species black, prieta, carey and have two olive Ridley.” That you are with doubt by its State in which we find them so advanced decomposition”.
Ecology of Puerto Vallarta and the Federal Attorney of environmental protection staff applied Protocol of attention to marine mammal strandings, which did not show damage caused by human activities.
Then made shots of tissue sample to be sent to a laboratory, and thus to determine the cause of the mortality in these organisms
Jaime Agustín González, Secretary of health of Jalisco, said “report to the appropriate authorities to first make the process of analysis and study to see why the turtles died and after bury them or cremate them, whichever is appropriate”.
For the moment, experts think that some bacteria, which only affects turtles was the cause of his death.
Juan José Navarro, ecology and environment, said that “we have not identified, reports, or observed in the routes that we have any other dead body. That somehow speaks to us that there is a problem that is generalizing the different marine species, then it is restricted exclusively to these turtles.
The expert said that the specimens were buried properly to avoid a focus of infection.
