Heavy rainfalls in recent days generated strong lahars (mud flows) through the Nima I River bed, remobilizing some of the recently erupted loose volcanic debris.
The turbulent hot flows reached 30 m width and carried blocks up to 50 to 70 cm in diameter, tree trunks and large branches.
