According to the National Weather Service, a third tornado has been confirmed from Thursday’s severe weather outbreak.
An EF-1 tornado began in western Davenport and tracked to the northeast. The storm caused damage on Credit Island that extended through downtown Davenport, the Village of East Davenport, Bettendorf and into northeast Scott County. The tornado then crossed the Mississippi River south of Princeton and hit Cordova before it lifted.
The storm had peak winds of 100 MPH and a path that lasted 20 miles. Along the path, the damage was primarily to trees and outbuildings. Some trees fell on homes and cars. In downtown Davenport, the roof of the jail and the roof of a homeless shelter were also damaged.
Two other tornadoes hit the Quad Cities Area on Thursday, October 6, 2016. Another EF-1 tornado touched down in Muscatine County, Iowa and an EF-0 hit south of Coal Valley, Illinois.
