Another major explosive eruption has taken place at the volcano a short time ago.

The Alaska Volcano Observatory noticed an increase in seismic activity from around 13:00 AKST local time (22:00 UTC). Two hours later, pilots confirmed that an explosive eruption produced a plume that rose to at least flight level 310 (31,000 ft or 9.5 km altitude) and has been drifting northeast.
