It was the oldest dam in Brazil, however, it became a “turtle cemetery”.
Totally dry, the disappeared prey “Açude do Cedro” has more than 400 dead turtles.
The dam of a century old, about 170 kilometers from Fortaleza, was one of the first important works to combat the drought undertaken by the Brazilian Government, however, currently does not have a drop of water.
The “gravity” of the situation was announced recently by the zoologist Hugo Fernandes-Ferreira who initiated an urgent investigation on the impact of the problem.
