1 dead, 4 injured after car strikes pedestrians in St. Petersburg, Russia

One person was killed and four others injured after a car plowed into pedestrians on Promyshlennaya street in Saint Petersburg Saturday night, traffic police confirmed on Sunday, adding that a woman, 37, died at the scene.
 
Two women, 47 and 18, and a man, 20, sustained heavy injuries. Another victim, a man, 27, is said to be in moderate condition.
 
According to preliminary information, the driver lost control of his Volkswagen Polo and hit an adjacent building, ramming into pedestrians.
 
“The driver of a Volkswagen Polo due to an as yet unknown cause lost control of the vehicle and hit pedestrians,” police told local media.
 
The man, reportedly unharmed in the incident, has been detained by local police
