Power Outages Alert
High winds continued to rip across New Jersey on Sunday, knocking out power to thousands of customers and delaying flights at Newark Liberty International Airport.
 
The state remains under a wind advisory until 4 p.m. with expected gusts between 40 and 50 mph. The highest wind of 60 mph so far was recorded in High Point in Sussex County.
 
More than 7,000 homes and businesses were without power as of noon. Reports of downed trees and power lines were scattered throughout the state.
 
The wind advisory extends until 6 p.m. in some North Jersey counties. The strongest winds were expected around noon, the National Weather Service reported.
