Large die off of fish in a lagoon in Fuquene, Colombia

Inhabitants of Fúquene in Cundinamarca, reported a large fish mortality in the lagoon of the municipality, which has set the alarm of environmental authorities to assess the situation in the coming hours to establish the causes.

According to the testimony of some people this fact could be related to the entry and operation of machinery obtained by the Autonomous Regional Corporation of Cundinamarca (CAR), to remove sediments from the reservoir.

This operation was carried out four days ago with the intention of “removing aquatic plant material on critical points in the Ubaté River”, in the area of ​​the municipality of Fúquene, although it has not yet been confirmed that this is the cause of the situation.
